Leeds College of Music: Computer & Internet Code of Conduct
Infringement of these rules will break the Library and
Learning Resource Centre Management rules, civil or criminal law and you will
face disciplinary action and possible prosecution. Users will be suspended from
College, pending disciplinary action.
Anyone who has not yet read the rules is strongly
advised to scroll down the page and do so now.
Code of Conduct
Equipment and Use
- Only one person is permitted to use a computer at a time.
- Use only authorised software; do not load software onto any computer
without the permission of either Library or MIS staff
- Printing on the laser printer is reserved for final copies of course work.
Do not use for personal items and do not use the computer attached to the
printer for word processing
- Do not damage or change any of the Learning Resource Centre's equipment,
materials or software; If you do you will be charged for having it repaired
or replaced
- Do not save your work on to the C: drive, it will be removed by overnight
procedures run by the College computer system
- Uncollected printing will be removed in the morning
Behaviour
Please be aware that the under noted activities are prohibited: -
- Eating or drinking is not allowed in the Learning Resource Centre or
Library
- Corruption or destruction or other users data
- Introduction of a virus to the college’s equipment
- The use of mobile phones.
Internet
The Internet can be used for any legal activity that is in furtherance of the
educational aims of the College. It may not be accessed for any of the
following: -
- The creation or transmission of any offensive, obscene or indecent images
and data be it sexual, racial, gender or any other type of materials
deemed offensive by the College
- The creation or transmission of any information which may bring the
College, any staff or student into disrepute
- The transmission of material such that it infringes the copyright of
another person
- The transmission or reception of illegal materials such as copyright games
- Forming or contributing to a chat line/email group or other forum with a
theme which breaches the Colleges equal opportunities code of conduct.
- Playing games, using chatlines and dating agencies or other activities not
in keeping with the educational aims of the College
Surveillance
- The MIS department constantly monitors use of the Internet and Library
staff will make spot checks on users
- Video cameras constantly record the use of both the Library and
Leaning Resource Centre
